The “Three Shopping Streets Friendship Festival” is a joint event organized by three shopping streets in Adachi and Arakawa Wards.
From Saturday, October 31 to Sunday, November 8, 2026, this special event is taking place across Center Machiya Shopping District, Sekisan-dori Shopping Street, and our very own Joyful Minowa Shopping Street, bringing the charm of each neighborhood to life through a series of exciting events!
And on the final day of the festival, Sunday, November 8, Joyful Minowa will take center stage!
There’s something for everyone, from children to adults, including hands-on activities, stage performances, and a lively market. Come and enjoy the festivities with your family and friends!
Three Shopping Streets Come Together for the Friendship Festival!
This festival is a community collaboration bringing together three shopping streets in Arakawa and Adachi Wards.
Explore each shopping street, discover its unique charm, and enjoy the atmosphere of the neighborhoods and the warm hospitality of local shopkeepers.
① Center Machiya Shopping District (Arakawa Ward)
The first venue, where events took place on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1.
This popular local shopping district is located near Machiya Station, served by the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line and Keisei Line. Events included umbrella painting activities and stage performances around Sunpop Machiya.
② Sekisan-dori Shopping Street (Adachi Ward)
The second venue, where events took place on Tuesday, November 3 (National Holiday).
Located in Sekihara, Adachi Ward, this shopping street is deeply rooted in the local community. Events included children’s festival games, hands-on activities, stage shows, and an outdoor market, held at Sekihara 3-chome Park and throughout the shopping street.
③ Joyful Minowa Shopping Street (Arakawa Ward)
And bringing the festival to a grand finale is our very own Joyful Minowa!
Set in our nostalgic Showa-era covered shopping arcade, a variety of exciting events will take place throughout the shopping street and at Zuiko Park.
November 8 (Sun): What’s Happening at Joyful Minowa!
Umbrella Sky Painting Experience & Children’s Festival
One of the highlights of this three-shopping-street collaboration is the Umbrella Sky painting experience!
At Joyful Minowa, you’ll get to decorate a blue vinyl umbrella with your own creative designs and make a one-of-a-kind creation.
The finished umbrellas will later be displayed throughout the Joyful Minowa covered shopping arcade.
There will also be traditional festival games for children, so bring the little ones along for some fun!
Joyful Outdoor Market
Enjoy a lively outdoor market featuring local shops and vendors!
Browse the stalls, shop for local goods, and enjoy the festive atmosphere!
Popular Squeeze Toy Making Experience

Benten Pond: A Place to Make Your Wishes
A special Joyful Minowa experience is “Benten Pond,” where you can send your wishes to Benten, the goddess of good fortune.
Write your wish on a piece of paper and dissolve it in water representing a pond as a special way of making a wish.
Feel the special connection with Benten, whose shrine is located in the shopping street, and entrust her with your wishes!

Explore All Three Shopping Streets with the Layered Stamp Rally!
During the festival, you can also take part in a special layered stamp rally that takes you to all three shopping streets.
Collect stamps at each location and layer them together to reveal one complete picture. It’s a fun way to explore the area!

Umbrella Sky Comes to Joyful Minowa Starting November 11!
Although the main festival ends on Sunday, November 8, the fun doesn’t stop there!
The blue umbrellas decorated during the event will be displayed throughout Joyful Minowa Shopping Street from Wednesday, November 11 to Monday, November 23 (National Holiday).
Red umbrellas at Center Machiya, orange umbrellas at Sekisan-dori, and blue umbrellas at Joyful Minowa.
These beautifully decorated umbrellas from all three shopping streets will add color and charm to each neighborhood.
